Los Angeles-based DIY punk/blues duo Restavrant (pronounced “restaurant”) Troy Murrah and Tyler Whiteside, his musical partner who hails from St. Louis, weave samples and loops into their riveting tracks, flawlessly blending the organic with electronica. Whiteside accompanies the kinetic twangs of Murrah’s steel slide guitar by rattling away on a custom drum kit made mostly of suitcases, old license plates, and other detritus. What comes together is an intoxicating blend of DIY punk and old school blues, but far more intense than one would expect.
Founded by Texas native Murrah in 2008, the musician gave himself the name “Restavrant” as a one-man band years ago, never thinking it would stick. Thirteen years later, guitarist and songwriter Murrah is still Restavrant but is now partnered with drummer Whiteside who joined him in 2012. More at https://restavrant.com.
