CauseConnect managed and helped produce The Chicano Collection / La Colección Chicana, a major art collaboration between Cheech Marin and Richard S. Duardo of Modern Multiples that resulted in a limited-edition portfolio series (115 sets) of archival-quality pigment prints of works by 26 artists in the Cheech Marin Collection. Each sized 40”x30” to fit into a custom clamshell case with silkscreened cover artwork by Chaz Bojorquez, the selected images in the series depict urban life and the Chicano experience during 1969 through 2001. Fifty sets were donated to major museums in the United States and Europe. CauseConnect was also responsible for raising nearly half a million dollars to produce the project and established a donor-advised fund with the California Community Foundation to manage the charitable funding. Included in each set are original linocut-prints of 26 artist portraits created by Artemio Rodríguez of La Mano Press and a one-hour documentary film directed by Tamara Hernandez and co-produced with Melissa Richardson Banks and Heather Flores. CauseConnect also organized a touring exhibition of one set of the 26 limited-edition giclées, which visited sixteen museums and cultural centers throughout the Southwest. An essay by Chon A. Noriega, Ph.D. of UCLA’s Chicano Studies Research Center was written specifically for the project.
