Produced by CauseConnect
On October 5, 2013, CauseConnect produced Noche de Arte y Música, a vibrant celebration of Chicano art and culture presented by the Marin Salon Series at the historic Plaza de la Raza in Los Angeles.
The multi-layered event began with an exclusive VIP afternoon reception on the zócalo, followed by a Chicano art talk by Cheech Marin and a classical music performance by pianist Natasha Marin and cellist Maksim Velichkin in the Margo Albert Theatre. Guests also enjoyed a private, curator-led preview of a major Chicano art sale before doors opened to the general public.
The evening came alive with a dynamic lineup of music, dance, and live art, including:
- Live mural painting by Fernando Barragan
- Musical performances by Quitapenas, Mariachi Mario Lopez, Thee Commons, Plaza de la Raza Salsa Band, Danza Teocalt, and Plaza de la Raza Youth Mariachi Ensemble
- Dance presentations by Danza Teocalt
- Live DJ set by Groove Radio
The art sale, held in the Boathouse Gallery, featured work by over 40 celebrated and emerging artists, including Chaz Bojórquez, Retna, Patssi Valdez, Margaret Garcia, Frank Romero, Leo Limón, Richard S. Duardo, Heriberto Luna, Andre Miripolsky, and many more.
Event Sponsors: KGB Gallery, Jarritos LA, Brooklyn & Boyle, Tito’s Handmade Vodka, and CauseConnect
