Papel Chicano Dos: Chicano Exhibition Continues its National Tour

Even though the world is in the midst of battling the pandemic, CauseConnect continues to book and manage the nationally touring “Papel Chicano Dos: Works on Paper from the Collection of Cheech Marin.” On its 9th and final stop, the museum exhibition is scheduled for display starting September 4, 2020 through Sunday, January 31, 2021 at the Colorado Springs Fine Art Center (CSFAC) at Colorado College. It will be available for viewing virtually online and, contingent on state, local, and university health regulations, visitors can tour the exhibition in person via timed admission at CSFAC.

Organized and toured by CauseConnect, “Papel Chicano Dos” presents 65 artworks by 24 established and emerging artists. These works demonstrate the use of a myriad of techniques by the artists, from watercolor and aquatint to pastel and mixed media. Dating from the late 1980s to present day, the exhibition showcases iconic imagery with influences ranging from pre-Hispanic symbols and post-revolutionary nationalistic Mexican motifs to Chicano movement of the 1960s and contemporary urban culture.

In addition to Colorado Springs and Loveland, Colorado, the exhibition has been traveling since 2016 to museums in Anaheim, Riverside and San Diego, California; Tulsa, Oklahoma; Wichita Falls, El Paso, and Corpus Christi, Texas; and Laramie, Wyoming.

The exhibition returns to its new home at The Cheech Marin Center for Chicano Art & Culture, which is opening during the fall of 2021. To learn more, visit www.thecheechcenter.org.
