Marin Salon Series

The Marin Salon Series is hosted periodically by Natasha & Cheech Marin at their private residence (and occasionally, outside venues). It is designed to showcase Chicano art, contemporary music, good food, and great conversation.

On June 3, 2012, the fourth event of the Marin Salon Series featured a performance by flutist Julia Barnett accompanied by classical pianist Natasha Marin, an art talk and works on display by artist John Valadez, and a reading of excerpts from a book of essays in progress by Cheech Marin. Guests include L.A. Packing’s Lourdes Campos and Carl Fiacco, fashion designer Vera Chernova deFehr with her husband, Vern deFehr; journalist, photographer and artist Ed Fuentes (KCET and View from a Loft); artist Ashley Gibbons (also Whole Foods Market’s Southern California marketing director); pianist Motoko Honda with her husband, restauranteur and music producer Rocco Somazzi; Steinway & Sons executive David G. Ida and his wife Cathrine; videographer Carlos Jacinto and Alma Perez; Toyota executive and Hispanic Scholarship Fund board member Anthony Salcido with his wife Toby Salcido; KPCC “Off-Ramp” host John Rabe with his partner, AltaMed administrator Julian Bermudez; Los Angeles Chamber Orchestra institutional giving director Michelle Weger; gallery owner and music producer Edgar Varela; artist Rachael Rendon; KCRW deejay, musical tastemaker, and “School Night” curator Chris Douridas and his assistant Carly Evans; printing executive and arts enthusiast Sue Pink with her husband, luxury auto leasing executive Jeff Mazor; cultural producer Melissa Richardson Banks; and vintage Schwinn bicycle expert Bob Ujszaszi. The event was produced by CauseConnect, catered by Chef Adriana Morera of The Paella Project with desserts by Andrea Balter of The Best for Last Custom Dessert Catering. Additional services included photography by Richard Sanchez and art services by Edgar Varela Fine Art. Beverages were provided by Frey Vineyards, VeeV Açaí Spirit, Honest Tea, and Victoria Beer.

On December 11, 2011, the third event of the Marin Salon Series featured painter/playwright/actor Herbert Siguenza and opera singer Dale Franzen accompanied by classical pianist Natasha Marin. It was produced by Melissa Richardson Banks of CauseConnect. Catering was provided by Chef Jorge Sanchez with custom desserts by Andrea Balter of The Best for Last. Photography was handled by Richard Sanchez and floral arrangements were done by Roberto Diaz Martinez. Art services were managed by Edgar Varela Fine Art. Graphic design for the programs was provided by Eva Crawford Creative. This event was sponsored by Reed’s Ginger Brew, Mi Sueno Wines, Victoria Beer, and Voli Light Vodka.

On August 21, 2011, the second event of the Marin Salon Series “Rock the Beach” was held. It featured Rolling Stones photographer Bonnie Schiffman with performances by classical pianist Natasha Marin and violinist Radu Pieptea. This event was sponsored by Voli Light Vodka, Cru Vin Dogs Wine, Perrier, Victoria Beer, Reed’s Ginger Brew, and Malibu Toffee.
